The gift of a blind man

by andreime

If there was ever a time of happiness and unburden serenity for that man, it was when he had just finished growing up. As a child he had his small problems, always life consuming and supreme, always replaced by more complicated ones, always one at a time. As a man he had so many problems, he never felt that he could actually get some of them in order, ever. Sure, there were the occasional wins, but the big stuff was never fully tackled or sorted out. Still, in between this two sides of a life, there was a bubble, a small period of time this man had no problems, no cheap stress and an all around happy life. For you see, there are people that never settle down. He wasn’t one of them. In a lucky moment, he realized what he had and wanted to keep that time of his life for ever.

He was the best man one could be at that age and he was also a lot more clever than you’d think possible. So he had an escape plan. He would surrender completely to that feeling and let go of everything else. This meant losing most of his best moments, those days when he would surprise the world around him with what he could create. He did that. It also meant letting go of some of his most beloved feelings. He tried not to be upset when turning his back to everything and everyone. And he would have said he is happy.

The key is a hidden idea, that he is blind to, until the day the gift is taken away.
